New Wine, New Wineskins, New Identity
All manifestations must fit the corresponding identity. New wine must be stored in new wineskins.
We find a fascinating verse in Matthew 9:17 that uses wineskins and wine as an analogy. Wineskins were bottles used in ancient times, made of leathered animal skin. These utensils were the closest thing we have today to the plastic bottles we use, which are lightweight and very useful to store liquids.
Neither is new wine put into old wineskins; otherwise, the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins are ruined, but new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved. - Matthew 9:17
Wineskins were used to store alcoholic liquids, but they had a limitation. They were made of organic material, animal skin, which means that they were designed to be used for very specific purposes. Otherwise, the organic material may interact with the content and spill the content.
It is harder to understand what Jesus exactly wanted to say in this parable without understanding what a wineskin is in its historical context. However, it is a concept that is easy to gasp and it helps us get the message that Jesus wanted to say.
The traditional meaning of this parable is that Jesus was basically founding a new religion, which would become Christianity because Judaism would not accept the new ideas. Jesus’ message was too radical and too profound for religious people of the time to embrace, especially by the religious authorities. This interpretation is valid, but now let’s explore a more mystical interpretation.
Interpretation in the context of Manifestations
It is convenient to see the wineskins as our identity, and the wine they contain as the manifestation. The manifestation is outside as much as inside. In fact, the first manifestation is often an emotional state.
So, what happens when you put manifestations that do not fit the identity? What happens when you put new wine in old wineskins?
Well, poor people who get huge amounts of money fast are extreme examples of what happens when the reality you live in does not fit your identity. Of course, you may be able to get your manifestation by luck or some kind of magic, but if your identity does not fit the manifestation, issues will rise.
Back in 2002, Michael Carroll was 19 and he worked as a garbage man.
He was obviously facing financial difficulties exacerbated by the fact that his girlfriend at the time was carrying Michael’s child.
Fate quickly turned around for the young couple when Michael won the national lottery and claimed the massive jackpot of 9.73 million pounds. Many believed this was the chance that Michael and his beloved needed to start anew and make a good life for themselves.
Obviously, the story doesn’t end this way.
It took Michael Carroll only 10 years to blow through the entire fortune and lose every single pound.
You may believe this story is unique, but the fact is that 70% of lottery winners end up broke. Some people want to explain this by the fact that often broke people play the lottery more, but the fact is that it also happens when people receive huge amounts of inheritance money or any kind of unexpected success that bring them huge amounts of money very fast, such as professional sports players. The opposite is also true. Rich people who lose all their money often find a way to make money again in a relatively short amount of time.
Does this mean our destiny is fixed? Yes, our destiny is fixed, but not to our lives, but to our identities. If you change your identity, you change your destiny. As Vadim Zeland said in his own words, you may not be able to change the plot of a movie, but you can change the movie. There are countless films to pick from, some of which are probably close enough to what you actually desire to watch. There are also countless identities to pick, and you can pick one that fits your wildest desires.
A final lesson
There is another interesting verse that expands on identity and manifestation.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33
See how the manifestations are all things added to you, and therefore the manifestations are added to the corresponding identity.
The Kingdom of God is closest in our analysis to our view of Identity. That means that the Subjective experience, your identity, can be found there without any problem. Make no mistake… you must find the Kingdom of God in you, as your identity may be in Hell right now.
So, remember this:
If your identity fits your manifestation, then your manifestation will stick.
If your identity does not fit your manifestation, it will not stick.
Ideally, we want our identity to be heavenly so good manifestations stick and bad manifestations pass throw, like the People that followed Moses passed through the Sea on dry.
Pray that all your manifestations fit your identity, because even a good thing can be lost or wasted if your identity does not fit it.
